Welcome back, NYC museums! The Met, MoMA, the American Museum of Natural History and our neighbor, the Whitney, are once again welcoming visitors. Stay with us, borrow a bike and hit them all, why don’t you? Read on for reopening details:
You didn’t miss out: The Whitney Museum of American Art has extended popular exhibits such as Vida Americana: Mexican Muralists Remake American Art, 1925–1945 and Making Knowing: Craft in Art, 1950-2019 (shown at right). Visitors are required to wear face coverings, practice social distancing and reserve timed tickets in advance online. (Admission is pay-what-you-wish through September 28.)

Celebrate The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s 150th anniversary with special exhibits including In Pursuit of Fashion, featuring dazzling French and American couture and ready-to-wear. MoMA is marking its reopening with free admission through September 27. Tickets are released online one week in advance in one-week blocks, every Friday at 10 AM EST. (Brush up on the museum’s safety guidelines before visiting.) Be sure to take in designer and architect Neri Oxman’s exhibit, Material Ecology, which combines nature (massive silkworm webs!) and technology to wondrous effect. The dinosaurs (not to mention that iconic whale) are waiting for you at The American Museum of Natural History. Reserve tickets online and pop into The Nature of Color, an interactive exhibit that lets you experiment with light to make your own hues.
