Meet Daisy the Double-Decker!
Fancy a tipple? Come see Daisy! Parked in the front garden of The High Line Hotel, Daisy — our 1957 London double-decker bus — welcomes guests in her interior cabin, lovingly referred to as the Queen’s Teapot. In the spring and summer, when our Remote View cocktail garden is open, Daisy serves up light bites and cocktails and invites passengers on her Upper Deck. In the fall and winter, her cozy cabin stays open so you can escape the cold.
Since arriving on our castle grounds in 2019, Daisy has received the royal treatment: Her interior is decked with custom wallpaper featuring The High Line Hotel’s frequent canine guests, a hat rack (fascinators, bowlers and deerstalkers!), quirky needlepoints and biscuit tins filled with dog treats. (Check out some of the details below!) She’d be chuffed to host your party, complete with catchy Brit beats!
In her prior career, Daisy — then known as 128 DTD after her vehicle identification number — merrily transported the good people of Lancaster, England, as part of Fleet 128 operated by Lancaster City Transport. Little did she know that New York City was in her future!
In February 2019, Daisy rolled onto the Atlantic Sky cargo ship and departed Liverpool, England, bound for a new life in America. After about a dozen port stops, Daisy’s ship came in. . .to New Jersey. She spent five months in Newark being fixed up for her Chelsea debut. As the former estate of Clement Clarke Moore — a descendant of British aristocrats — The High Line Hotel is a natural home for a London expat like Daisy.
