Meet Daisy the Double-Decker!
Parked in the front garden of The High Line Hotel, Daisy, our 1957 London double-decker bus, is like a friendly garden gnome. You can’t board the bus or sit on her deck, but she sure does make a cheeky lawn ornament.
In her prior career, Daisy — then known as 128 DTD after her vehicle identification number — merrily transported the good people of Lancaster, England, as part of Fleet 128 operated by Lancaster City Transport. Little did she know that New York City was in her future!
In February 2019, Daisy rolled onto the Atlantic Sky cargo ship and departed Liverpool, England, bound for a new life in America. After about a dozen port stops, Daisy’s ship came in. . .to New Jersey. She spent five months in Newark being fixed up for her Chelsea debut. As the former estate of Clement Clarke Moore — a descendant of British aristocrats — The High Line Hotel is a natural home for a London expat like Daisy.
